LOGAN LECTURE SERIES 2008: ARTISTS ON ART: THE N E X T GENERATION

CHRISTOPH HEINRICH, the new Polly and Mark Addison Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, shares his vision by introducing artists featured in the upcoming full rotation of galleries and future exhibitions including the site-specific painting project, Embrace. This major project, scheduled for 2009, will emphasize the uniqueness of the architecture where painting leaves the wall and embraces the space. Presented by the DAM Contemporaries. Generously supported by Vicki and Kent Logan.

Jonas Burgert | Thursday, November 20

Set within large canvases of theatre stages, imbedded with props from the orient and occident, Jonas Burgert’s creatures emerge as metaphors, shamans and circus characters. This parabolic world of destruction and decay exists just beyond our visual reality, but not beyond our awareness. His painting, The Temple, 2007, a recent acquisition of the DAM, will be premiered in the rotation of the Modern & Contemporary collection.
